The Starlight Bristlenose Pleco originates from the Rio Negro in Brazil.  It is also known as the White Seam Pleco and the Orange Seam Pleco for the coloring on the dorsal and caudal fins.  They prefer wood and hiding places, such as caves.  Starlights are omnivorous and prefer vegetable matter.  They will also eat sinking pellets, live blackworms and frozen bloodworms.

The males have tenacles on their head.  Breeding is difficult, but can be achieved with blackwater water conditions, which are very soft, acidic water created by decaying vegetation.  In the wild these water conditions produces very dark yet clear water.
